Rock Falls<\/h3>\n

Auf meinem weg nach Chicago, bzw. zu meinem endg\u00fcltigen Platzierungsort, habe ich noch einen kurzen 3 t\u00e4gigen Abstecher nach Rock Falls gemacht. Rock Falls liegt westlich von Chicago nahe der Staatsgrenze zu Iowa. W\u00e4hrend meines 3 t\u00e4gigen Aufenthalts bei sogenannten Homestatetourhosts, herzlichen Dank an Wolf und Linnea, habe ich die l\u00e4ndliche Seite Illinois kennen lernen d\u00fcrfen, was alle mal eine Erfahrung wert ist. Jeder der die Chance hat und eventuell mal aus dem w\u00fchligen Alltag entfliehen m\u00f6chte sollte sich ernsthaft \u00fcberlegen in die abgelegene Region Illinois zu Reisen.<\/p>\n

Neben dem Landleben und vielen Corn & Bean Feldern gibt es Ecken zu sehen, die in keinem Reisef\u00fchrer stehen. Ich habe hier eine sch\u00f6ne Zeit gehabt und durfte mir auch, f\u00fcr amerikanische Bauern untypisch, eine Farm angucken (Vielen Dank an Steven Getz und seine Familie). Hier lernt man wirklich die einsame Seite der USA kennen.<\/p>\n

Verschl\u00e4gt es einen zuf\u00e4llig auf einen alten Friedhof, l\u00e4sst sich gut die Geschichte der Besiedelung der USA nachvollziehen. Hier finden Sich \u00fcberwiegend deutsche Inschriften auf den Grabsteinen und interessanter Weise ist die gr\u00f6\u00dfte ethnische Gruppe die sich in den USA finden l\u00e4sst Deutsch, auch wenn nur die wenigsten noch Deutsch sprechen.<\/p>\n

Empfehlenswert f\u00fcr jedenfalls einen kurzen Abstecher auf einer jeden USA Reise.<\/p>\n

Rock Falls<\/h3>\n

On my way to Chicago or my final placement I had the chance to take a 3 days short trip to Rock Falls. Rock Falls is on the country side of Illinois, west of Chicago, close to Iowa. During these days I was hosted by so called home state tour hosts, thank you very much Wolf and Linnea. I got to know the country side of Illinois and I have to say it was an experience I don\u2019t want to miss. Everyone that is tired of the crowded areas around the big cities should think about such a trip to visit the country side. Next to the country side way of life and many corn and bean fields I got to know Corners of the country, that know trip advisor will tell you about. I had a wonderful time and was honored to be allowed to check out Steven Getz and his family owned dairy farm (Thank you very much for the great tour). Here, you really get to see the country side and heart of the land. If you come by an old grave yard you should definitely don\u2019t miss the chance to explore a little piece of history. It\u2019s very interesting to see that the grave stone mainly have German Writings engraved. Germans are interestingly the biggest ethnic group you will find in the US, but only a few are able to speak German. Recommendable for at least a short trip on every USA vacation.<\/p>\n
