When everybody was convinced it was gone,
it came back again to say hello !
The Snow.
As plans, weather and moods changed, we turned the day into a spontaneous Philly Day Trip! By “we”, I mean my incredibly amazing new host family Jo and Mike and me. After breakfast-brainstorming in the cute, little Tapenade Bistro, where Jo works (great food!), we decided to go to the famous Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Redding Terminal Market.
We had so much fun, even though Jo isn’t a Museum’s person at all. We got caught several times when touching “Please don’t touch” art (or rather, Jo), made fun of weird pieces and admired royal rooms and 1500’s walls from France.
We refilled our energy in the always crowded, multifaceted Redding Terminal Market, where not only every tourist (should) go but also locals buy their food! We had great lunch, I tried my first Cheesesteak (no, I didn’t order one myself, Jo was so kind to and let me try) and it’s pretty gross.
At least I can say that I triiied
We bought dark chocolate (OMG) & peanut butter/choc covered pretzels when I stopped at “Schmidt’s Wursthaus” which fascinated me. Not because of the sausage, Sauerkraut and mashed potatoes, but because of the weird combination of German things, they sold (for bold prices)! They had Loewensenf, German bread (plus very dark Pumpernickel -> bought -> pretty good!), Gewuerzketchup, 5 kilo pickles, Koelner Christstollen (!!), Knorr Fertigsaucen, Katzenzungen, Griess, Schogetten, Kloesse, Spaetzle, Schokobananen, Asbachschoki, uvm!
Afterwards, we went to LCBC, Manheim Campus, which is the biggest one with a room like a concert hall and the live Pastor. It was very cool!
Great spontaneous day trip, thanks, Jo & Mike!
