Ahh, the Americans!
I feel like I complain a lot about some American habits and lifestyles. Some do really bother me (bread, driving, Pizza) and some, I can live with (sanitizers, plastic bags (recycle), deals).
This entry, I would like to dedicate to the “cold side of Americans”.
Freezing.. ice.. air conditioning.. EVERYWHERE!
No matter if it’s chilly 10 degrees (50) outside or if it’s summertime – Air conditioning is always on. Often even with the heat (if that’s even possible)! In private homes, grocery stores, offices, movie theaters, colleges, shops.. every building is freezing cold, you can barely wear a tshirt inside.
Americans like it cool
No matter if it’s snowing or tanning – It always comes with ice
If you order a drink in the US, you can count on at least 5 ice cubes in it. I personally don’t like it, regardless the weather. But people even drank ice cold beverages when we had minus temperatures!it snowed 5 inches and #LisaKlammertSichAnIhrenTee
So in my case, I always have to add: A water, no ice, please. Every single waitress / waiter repeated what I said, just to be sure that they heard me correctly.
When you go to private homes with those famous, fancy, American fridges, you will find a place where you can get filtered water (because US tab water.. don’t drink it) and an extra spot for ice cubes, which smoothly plop into your drink.
I think, it’s pretty funny
